After setting up an appointment with your physician, you'll be asked to fast over night or for at least eight hours prior to the test. A single drop of blood is taken from your finger and either sent to a lab or tested in the physician's office using a glucose meter. Results are almost instantaneous. One simple test is all you need to take in order to determine whether you've been suffering from a diabetes symptom, so when in doubt, take the test.
